Glorianna In Her Glory

Details on Glorianna
Pattern: Glorianna, part of the Elizabeth I collection by designer Jolene Treace
Yarn: Knit Picks Shadow in Jewels--about 2/3-3/4 of the skein
Needles: Crystal Palace bamboo circs in sz 4--I think the 32 or 40" length--way too long which made the project very fiddly. I'm thinking about getting some straights for this type of project, but I really like the way the cable can be wound up in the little plastic bag, and I don't have to worry about someone breaking a long straight needle. Maybe the problem was the stiffness of the cable on this brand of needle. This is one of two projects I'm working on bamboo right now, and I don't like the bamboo. However for neither project did I have an alternative, so I'm sticking with it for these projects and will ditch them after that.
Start Date: March 26, 2006 (good grief, it has been a long time--sadly, my blog is the evidence against me of the longevity of the project)
Finish Date: October 11, 2006
Size after blocking: 62" x 9" (probably relaxed a bit from this)
Thoughts: I have knit two of the three scarves included in the Elizabeth I pattern and have enjoyed both. I never got to the point with this one where I could read my knitting and know what to do next. Not quite sure why, I have been able to do this with other lace that I knit. I liked the feel of the Alpaca Cloud that I used for Dainty Bess better than the Shadow, and it just floated through the air once it was blocked and dried. I think any of the patterns could easily be adapted to make a wider rectangular stole. We all know how I love those :o) Yep, as I expected, I like the Alpaca Cloud much better for this. Don't get me wrong, it's still lovely, but the AC just drapes so well and is so very soft.
Edited to add: updated photo and measurements.
I'll add my usual scarf/shawl blowing in the breeze once she's dry. Until then, a picture of her blocking will have to do.
